When should I seek emergency care?

Possible Heart Emergency

Severe or persistent chest pressure/pain, especially with sweating, breathlessness, fainting or pain radiating to the arm/jaw.

Possible Stroke

Sudden facial droop, arm/leg weakness, speech difficulty, severe imbalance, new visual loss or sudden neurological deficit.

Severe Breathing Difficulty

Marked breathlessness, blue lips, inability to speak normally, severe wheeze, confusion or rapidly worsening breathing.

Seizure / Unconsciousness

Prolonged or repeated seizure, persistent unconsciousness, new severe confusion or sudden collapse requires urgent assessment.

Major Bleeding

Vomiting blood, large amounts of blood in stool, uncontrolled external bleeding or bleeding associated with faintness/shock.

Severe Allergic Reaction

Sudden swelling of tongue/lips, breathing difficulty, collapse or widespread allergic symptoms with dizziness.
