The Seizure That Wasn’t Epilepsy
The presentation
A first seizure led to antiepileptic treatment, but bedside glucose had been overlooked.
The first explanation was plausible, but the pattern did not fully fit. A deliberate second look focused on physiology, medication/exposure history, serial observations and the clue that the initial diagnosis could not explain.
The turn
Rapid glucose correction ended the event and exposed the reversible trigger.

Severe hypoglycaemia

Check glucose early in every altered or convulsing patient.
